Tyga's name has been on the blogs and the Twitter a lot lately, and rightfully so: The rapper, a 25-year-old man, is allegedly doing it with hair-saleswoman Kylie Jenner, a 17-year-old Kardashian. Maybe they're just occasionally going out for froyo. Maybe they're fucking. If the latter is true, it's both gross and illegal. But I brought you here today not just to talk about that whole fiasco, but about the many other reasons Tyga is gross. There are plenty!
Let's get the positive things out of the way first: Tyga has made two productive contributions to society with the songs "Hookah" and "Rack City," especially the latter. But neither hit would be anything without Young Thug and Drake, respectively, and any goodwill accrued there has been wiped out by his new single, "Ayo," a team-up with Chris Brown. Be wary of anyone who regularly associates with Chris Brown, who is, by the way, the godfather of Tyga's son.
But that's just scratching the surface.
Let's revisit "Rack City" for a few moments. "Rack City" was a fun song. But you know what undermines a mostly fun and benign song? Turning it into a bad porno, starring ... YOURSELF! Directed by ... YOURSELF! A porno you graced with the title ... RACK CITY XXX. Creativity is a gift. You can watch the trailer here, if you want. (Obviously NSFW). I have no problem with porn. Porn is fine. We posted porn on this very site recently. I just don't want to see porn starring and directed by Tyga, because well, now I have to take all of his songs literally. Many Tyga videos have a very specifically porny feel to them: The line of demarcation between what is a Tyga music video and what is a Tyga porn production basically boils down to questions of dick and on-camera penetration. Take that to mean there's a nonzero chance this dude is thinking about hardcore fucking as you read this, or maybe even filming it.
If Tyga just wanted to do the porn stuff on his own time, it would be fine. But the dong-shaped line of demarcation I just mentioned is sometimes nonexistent. In 2013, he was sued by three (count 'em) women who claimed Tyga showed their nipples without their consent in the "Make It Nasty" video. He was also sued by a fourth woman who was involved in the same video shoot. She, too, claimed her nipples were shown in the video without consent, and she also alleged that she was assaulted by a person in a rabbit suit and groped by another. The case was settled out of court, but where there's smoke, there's often someone coercing women to show their breasts in a music video.
There's also some miscellaneous legal troubles that would lead you to believe Tyga is probably an asshole. Just last month, he was sued by his former manager, who claimed he brought the rapper out of obscurity, only to be abruptly fired. He says Tyga owes him money! Your man was also sued in 2013 by a Beverly Hills jeweler who claimed the "Coconut Juice" mastermind took $91,000 worth of bling without paying.
"I tend to distance myself from them. I'm tryna go independent. I don't really get along with Drake. I don't really get along with Nicki," Tyga told Vibe in a story that published last week. "I don't like Drake as a person. He's just fake to me. I think his music is good, but we're all different people. We were forced together, and it was kinda' like we were forcing relationships together.
Drake loves his mom and his town and seems like a generally nice guy. Nicki is great, and a badass, and loyal to her family and to Queens. How do you not like those two? Most people do! And if they don't, that's a personal thing. It's not nice to talk about people behind their backs or in Vibe magazine. Have some manners!
So just to review, Tyga:
- Stands accused of dating a teenager.
- Makes terrible music.
- Likes Chris Brown enough to have made him the godfather to his son.
- Is at the very least disrespectful to women.
- Has done porn.
- Would do it again.
- Seems like a jerk.
- Hates Drake and Nicki.
- Is garbage.
